Adiree would like to share some great news: a selection of international designers who’ve been picked by their home country as emerging fashion designers will be on display as part of the International Fashion Showcase in London! London’s Fashion Week runs from 17th – 22nd of February, and the selected designers are those who are considered to be representative of the future of fashion in their region. Why are we so excited? A selection of the best emerging talent from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Botswana will be on display at the British Council offices. The Adiree team wishes all the best and lots of luck and success to new talents from Africa!

Funlayo Deri is a label owned by Creative Director Funmilayo Csilla Deri, a Nigerian born, London/Budapest based fashion designer. Deri showcased her collection called “Labour of Love” on Saturday July 16, 2011. Her pieces are luxurious and wearable while celebrating the female form and emphasizing curves. Funlayo Deri women are confident and sophisticated― with refined taste.
Deri’s aesthetic is influenced by her cultural experiences and exposure. “I also believe that clothes should be glamorous but not taken excessively serious,” says Deri.

According to Mashable, Twitter was the most dominant social network for the Golden Globes with a peak of 6,162 Tweets per second. As Mashable’s Brian Hernandez notes, that would easily put the ceremony on the list of top tweets per second. We at Adiree took a look at those tweets and majority of them were congratulations to the actors that won the award. Zooey Deschanel had the most re-tweeted post of the night when she flaunted her Prada dress and specially painted fingernails.

“For as long as I’ve lived in the US, people have always loved the African clothes I’ve worn,” explained Serwaa Adjei-Pelle, founder and CEO of Le Tabouret D’Or. “Whenever they asked where they could get my outfit, I would tell them my tailor in Ghana made it. The reality is that African fashion just hasn’t been accessible to people who admire it. With the emergence of African Inspired and ‘Tribal’ collections on runways, African fashion lovers only stand to gain from Le Tabouret D’Or sourcing African fashion directly from the continent’s designers.”
